The Giro d'Italia will be back in South Tyrol in the coming year 2019: The Valle Anterselva/Antholzertal and Valdaora/Olang will host the arrival on May 29, 2019 and the start on the following day, May 30, 2019.
After South Tyrol could not be found on the stage plan of the Giro d'Italia of 2018, the 17th and 18th stages of the most important stage cycling event next to the Tour de France will once again lead over the South Tyrolean roads.
The 17th stage will take cyclists from Commezzadura in the Val di Sole across the Mendel Pass through the Isarco Valley and Val Pusteria to the Biathlon Center Antholz. The final climb to the biathlon center and finish straight into the South Tyrol Arena will be a highlight.
The following day, the 18th stage starts in the center of Mitterolang and travels through the Val Landro/Höhlensteintal and the provinces of Belluno and Treviso to Santa Maria di Sala, not far from Venice. This is one of the longest stages of the 102th Giro d'Italia and brings the cyclists closer to the finish line in Verona, where the Giro ends on Sunday, June 2nd.
